Angie & James' Journey...

With Walking & Talking Makenzie Rose
November 02

November Already

We had a very busy October. Just a few highlights: James and I celebrated our 10 year dating anniversary, we had family portraits done on the campus of Miami University, Makenzie celebrated her 2nd Halloween and came down with Strep throat. With the H1N1/Swine flu scare it seems that everyone is sick with something. She came down with the illness on Halloween night and didn't want to trick-or-treat. We rolled her around in her stroller while her older cousin carried her bucket and got it filled with candy.

We have a very busy month again in November. We have lots of birthdays and a trip to Cancun.  I've posted some fall pics in an album so check them out.

Last Race of The Season

We had a very long last race of the season this past weekend. We went to Columbus for the Jegs Sports National. We went our fastests time run yet on Friday. 6.93 sec. in the quarter mile. Saturday it rained all day and Kenzie and I went to the Easton Mall with our friend Judy. Sunday morning we woke up to more rain. We got one time run about 3pm then 1st round around 7:30pm and 2nd round at about 10:30pm. We lost 2nd round. We got home around 4am and were exhausted.

Talking up a storm

We are now saying sentences. "I want to see daddy," "What are you doing mommy," Where did daddy go?"  It is just so cool to see how every day she is learning so much.

Welcome August

This summer has gone by fast. We have had a very mild summer. I'm hoping that August warms up a bit so we can really enjoy the pool after work in the evenings. I think July 2009 was the coolest July in history. (for Ohio that is). Makenzie is saying so many new words I can't even keep up. One of the new things she has been saying is "where did it go." Another new thing she does is she puts her baby doll on the potty. She has yet to go on it though. We get her to try a few times....but she really has no interest so we are not pushing it.

Here are a few August pics so far..

Race in Columbus

We had a race in Columbus last weekend. It rained all day Saturday.

We had to replace the serpentine belt on the motorhome on the way there. Makenzie is helping out
Here is Makenzie about to fall asleep after eating dinner. We grilled ribs and made mac and cheese.

Here we are doing the cupid shuffle.

Makenzie is showing off her moves too.

Swim Lessons

Makenzie had her first swim lessons tonight. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it went great and was actually a lot of fun. We sang a lot of songs....didn't think that was going to happen in swim lessons. Its a parent/child class. I dipped her under the water several times and she did not cry or swallow any water amazing as that seems. James watched us from the other room We are taking them at the YMCA and the place is not the greatest...we are just doing the program membership for these lessons. We are at the Butler East YMCA. We were considering middletown and I'm so glad we didn't go there as this one is newer and prob more upscale, but still not what we really want. Are we snobs? No, but lack of customer service and the place was just not what we are use to. I'm thinking a country club atmosphere would suit us better, but oh well. Good thing we have our own pool. I am going to go on record here and say we will prob not join a YMCA in the near future and prob not ever.

We have a race this weekend so hopefully we do well in the Jegs sports national.  Sorry no pics...

Stanton MI

Had a great weekend in Stanton, MI. After a very eventful Thursday night and Friday morning we made it to the track and qualified #4. We also made it to the final round! We were very happy. Still not sure how we lost as the car just rolled through the beams after James put the trans break on. Makenzie had fun and was pretty good most of the weekend despite not sleeping and throwing a few tantrums. Oh the joys of the terrible two's!!!

June 24

Dancing

We usually have our radio on in the background when cooking dinner and just doing things around the house. Tonight along with many other nights Makenzie grabbed my hand as I was cleaning up dinner and pulled me into the family room to dance. She then went back into the kitchen and pulled James' hand into the family room to dance. It was just so cute. She is our dancing queen.  We love her so much!!!!

19 months

Makenzie is 19 months today and has pink eye. We think she had allergies and then scratched her eye and developed pink eye. I didn't even know you could give yourself pink eye. She now has eye drops and an antibiotic.

A little update: She still weighs 28 lbs, but has really gotten taller. She looks older than most kids her age due to her ht and wt.

At 19 months some new words she can say are baby, pretty, good, count 2 & 3 (when prompted by 1), hug, eye (one of her favorites), joe joe, sorry, sign thank you, please and sign it, train, choo choo. dirty, ew, mine, okay, back pack, cold, hot (she often gets these mixed up),whoa, wee, potty, poo poo and pee ....there are just too many to even remember. She absolutely loves Dora and begs me to turn it on. She dances, sings and repeats after the show. She also recently started telling me when she goes in her diaper. I've been trying to get her to sit on the potty, but she doesn't really want to do this yet. We are not forcing it.

Lately she has been hugging us lots. Of course we love this. She also has to sleep with her baby. She has also started to climb on everything. She can climb up on chairs, our bar stools and the golf cart all by herself.

We had a fun time in Joliet. IL this past weekend. There were 52 cars. We qualified as #34. #33 went a 7.000 and we went 7.001. The bump was a 6.98.

June 10

June it is...

Last weekend we had a pool party and fish fry on Sunday and celebrated my parents 34th wedding anniversary. We had a great time. Champagne and dessert were also good.

This weekend we are heading off to Joliet, IL to race. James' dad is meeting us at 7:30am and we will head out for the 7 hour trip. Our friend Todd is flying in and bringing a friend....or two. We also have friends who live in Crest Hill, which is right next door who we met on a cruise several years ago. Hopefully we see them. Then we will see lots of other track friends.....we haven't see in awhile.....Shelli, Ryan & Rylli Koener. Makenzie and Rylli are only 8 months apart. I found out I was pregnant 3 days before she was born.....wow seems like yesterday and yet it feels like a lifetime ago......Looking forward to a fantastic time.

Pics will be updated....someday....in my spare time.

Every night is just busy busy busy. We are constantly doing something and working around the house. My dad mentioned we are the hardest working people he knows......I think he is right. :)

Busy May

To summarize the past few weeks I can use one word. Weddings. We have had 3 weddings in May (and one the last weekend in April). Makenzie has had a ball. She is the queen of the dance floor. She partied like a rock star and even danced with a few boys. I know we are in trouble with this child.

Just a quick update on our Makenzie Rose....she loves Dora and is now asking me to put it on for her. She is saying more and more words....some favorites include kay kay, gi gi, and gaga, but she is repeating a lot of other words now.

Here is a video of pics of Rob & Nikki's wedding. James was in it. http://wildfire.gigya.com/wildfire/PostAndNavigate.aspx?iSnid=64&networkName=facebook&section=&combo2=&text1=&text2=&SocNetUsername=&SocNetPassword=&authCode=&HtmlContent=%3cimg%20style%3d%22visibility%3ahidden%3bwidth%3a0px%3bheight%3a0px%3b%22%20border%3d0%20width%3d0%20height%3d0%20src%3d%22http%3a%2f%2fcounters.gigya.com%2fwildfire%2fIMP%2fCXNID%3d2000002.11NXC%2fbHQ9MTI%2aMzg2ODUzMzU3OCZwdD%2axMjQzODY4NTM3OTA2JnA9MjY4NDEmZD%2ambj1mYWNlYm9vayZnPTEmdD%2amb2Y9MA%3d%3d.gif%22%20%2f%3e%3cdiv%20style%3d%22width%3a%20466px%3b%22%3e%09%3cobject%20width%3d%22466%22%20height%3d%22375%22%3e%09%09%3cparam%20name%3d%22movie%22%20value%3d%22http%3a%2f%2fcontent.photoshow.com%2fpsp_assets%2fexbed_player.0.2.0.swf%22%2f%3e%09%09%3cparam%20name%3d%22FlashVars%22%20value%3d%22showCode%3ddi7hV5Ja%26systemConfigUrl%3dhttp%3a%2f%2fcontent.photoshow.com%2fpublish%2fsystem_config.0.2.1.xml%26viewerWidth%3d466%26viewerHeight%3d375%26autoPlayBack%3dfalse%26muteOnStart%3dtrue%26useWidgetMaker%3dfalse%22%2f%3e%09%09%3cparam%20name%3d%22allowfullscreen%22%20value%3d%22true%22%2f%3e%09%09%3cparam%20name%3d%22quality%22%20value%3d%22high%22%2f%3e%09%09%3cembed%20src%3d%22http%3a%2f%2fcontent.photoshow.com%2fpsp_assets%2fexbed_player.0.2.0.swf%22%20type%3d%22application%2fx-shockwave-flash%22%20FlashVars%3d%22showCode%3ddi7hV5Ja%26systemConfigUrl%3dhttp%3a%2f%2fcontent.photoshow.com%2fpublish%2fsystem_config.0.2.1.xml%26viewerWidth%3d466%26viewerHeight%3d375%26autoPlayBack%3dfalse%26muteOnStart%3dtrue%26useWidgetMaker%3dfalse%22%20allowfullscreen%3d%22true%22%20quality%3d%22high%22%20width%3d%22466%22%20height%3d%22375%22%2f%3e%09%3c%2fobject%3e%3c%2fdiv%3e&isLayout=false&additionalParams=&partner=26841&source=&partnerData=&postAsBulletin=false&BulletinSubject=&BulletinHTML=&captchaText=&referrer=http%3a%2f%2fwww.photoshow.com%2fmaker%2fshare%2fdi7hV5Ja%3fbrand%3droadrunner&postURL=&previewUrl=&previewCaptureTimeout=-1&openInWindow=true&campaignId=0&adGroupId=0&creativeId=0&publisherId=0&cl=false&gen=1&srcNet=&loadTime=1243868533578&pt=1243868537906&trackCookie=Ag8AAAAAAA%3d%3d%26Ag8AAAAAAA%3d%3d

18 months

Makenzie is 18 months today and just growing so fast. She is saying all kinds of new words......she loves cheese and her hair is just getting curlier. She has ringlets.  We are racing in Norwalk, OH this weekend and everyone comments on how big she is (28lbs) and how curly her hair is. The big question is where did she get the curly hair from? That would be daddy. He had curly hair when he was her age. We are not sure if it will stay, but I guess time will show. Here at the race track Makenzie is riding her 4 wheeler, playing with her lawn mower and bear and baby are two favorite friends. She also has her pink chair and some other toys she plays with. She loves to help out with the race car. We have her carseat strapped into the golfcart and she loves to go for rides.  Her first night here she did not sleep too well. She ended up in bed with us twice. We are parked right next to a road and trucks have gone by all night. This along with not being in her crib probably kept her from sleeping well. We will take lots of photos and post them.
May 08

Lots of new words

Everyday it seems Makenzie is picking up new words. I honestly can't keep up with it. Some new words include: Go, sorry, she mimics ring around the rosy, okay (I apparently say this a lot), shoes on, eyes (she has said this one for awhile)

She can point to her nose, eyes, belly, feet, hands, hair/head, mouth and ears.
May 04

Tube surgery

Today Makenzie had tubes put in both of her ears. She has had multiple ear infections with little or no relief. We got up at 5am and headed out to the Evendale Surgical Center. She did so good. The actual procedure took only a few minutes.  I got to go back with her when they put her to sleep. She was such a good little girl. She never once made a sound once she woke up in recovery. The doctor said she had glue ears. I guess she literally had glue in both ears. They cleaned them out and then inserted the tubes. We are back home and she is running around like normal. The doctor did say to talk quietly around her as she probably hasn't been hearing us like normal.

We had a great weekend. We went to a wedding and Makenzie danced with her first boy. It was so cute. She just loves music so much and loves to dance to it. She also loves playing outside and helping daddy work on the pool, the race car or the motorhome. One of her new favorite games is ring around the rosie. She loves the fall down part.

18 Month Check up

We went today for Makenzie's 18 month check up. She weighs 28 lbs and is 31 inches long. She had 3 shots and hardly whimpered. She is such a good girl. She also had a pre-op physical. Next Monday she is getting tubes in both ears. Hopefully she will have some relief. Currenlty she has fluid in both ears and just a constant runny nose and cough. There is no where for the fluid in her ears to escape so this is the result. Anti-biotics are not helping.

We had a great weekend. Saturday was gorgeous so we just worked around the house inside and out. Then we went to Makenzie's 1st wedding. She did not do too well. We missed the entire ceremony b/c she just wanted to talk and play. Then at the reception she just wanted to run around. She finally passed out once we were ready to leave. This is the 1st of 4 wedding we have coming up so hopefully the next one goes a little smoother.

Sunday we had Abby's baptism. It was so nice. She had her own private baptism and then we went back to Jen & Mike's home for a party. Makenzie and Makayla played all day in their backyard on the slide and in the sandbox. Then we left and bought a new grill. Our other one was blown over and broken by hurricane Ike.

Pictures will be up soon.

Sick again

Makenzie has been sick all weekend. She had a low grade fever and just wasn't herself. I took her to the doctor yesterday and she has a double ear infection. She also has a cough and runny nose. So another round of anti-biotics. She is getting tubes on May 4. Hopefully this will help. We opened our pool on Saturday since the weather was so nice and it may be the only free weekend we would have. I'm heading to Baltimore Maryland tomorrow for a work conference and then this weekend we have a wedding, a baptism and 1st communion. I tried to post pics, but this site is really acting funny so I'll have to try again soon.

Happy Easter 2009

Well it is a beautiful Easter morning. The sun is shining, the sky is blue and Miami Men's Ice Hockey Team are the 2009 Ice Hockey National Champion Runner Up's. Life is pretty darn good. The Easter bunny came to our house for the first time (last year Makenzie was only 4 mos old). He was so good to Makenzie. Her favorite thing is a doll baby stroller. I will post pics later on. We are going to my parents for dinner around 3pm. Right now James is cooking us blueberry pancakes.  Makenzie has had several jelly beans and a hershey kiss so hopefully she will eat some pancakes with us.  Yesterday we had a nice time at an Easter Egg hunt at a local church, the river with Jen, Makayla and Abby. Makenzie is really getting the hang of hunting for eggs.

Easter Eggstravaganza

We went to the Beach Waterpark for an Easter egg hunt and then saw the Easter bunny. She was not fond of the Easter bunny at all. I will post pics soon.

2007 Baby Boom

I'm taking this from my friend Holly's blog (thanks Holly).

The CDC announced that 07 is officially the most number of births in the US!! Well in my little world.....I know a lot of babies born in this year....Makenzie included.

The last time the number was this high was in 1957 (ironically the number 7). They are calling this a Boomlet since its no where near the Baby boom of the 50's or 60's.
If I had to name the babies I know born in 2007.....Makayla, Logan, Abigail, Grace, Rylli, Bella, Ava, Lilly, Makenzie, Lilly (yes two lilly's), and Nicholas. This is all I can think of, but that's a lot of babies and I'm sure I'm forgetting someone!  The data is still coming in on this, but if I had to guess I bet we'll see a continued increase in 08 and 09.

Double ear infection and Strep

I feel that most of my posts are sick posts or doctor visit reports. My doctor and his staff have assured me that I'm not there as often as I think and there are other patients that are there more than I am.

Let me back track a bit....I was out of town for a conference wed-thursday. So, Wednesday Makenzie went to a new sitter as our normal sitter is on maternity leave. She did not sleep the entire night before and was up crying most of the night unless I was holding her. James dropped her off at the sitters and she did not want to let him go. Finally he was able to sneak out. She slept most of the day, not eating or drinking and did not appear to be herself. That night James brought her home and she just layed around, which is totally unlike her. He gave her a bath after dinner and put her down about 10pm (with the hopes that she would sleep better if she was nice and tired). She woke back up around 10:30 and he got her back to sleep until 5:30am. This was not a good sign. She just wanted to be held. James called the sitter to cancel and made her a doctor's appt. She has a double ear infection and they recommended that she see an ent. He had to take her to work with him. It killed me to be away from her when she was so sick. I'm so lucky that I have James to take good care of her. He is such a wonderful father and husband. I got home around 4:30 and James and Makenzie had just pulled in the driveway themselves. When Makenzie saw me she just held her arms out and came right to me........this about broke my heart. We took it easy the rest of the night and she slept from: 9pm-9am.

I had an appt today with the doctor b/c my glands have been swollen for 3 days and I have been fighting the flu/cold/sinus for 3 weeks. I was barely positive for strep and have a sinus infection. I had called the ent yesterday and scheduled appts for Makenzie and myself, but after the doctor told me that having your tounsils removed as an adult is very very very painful (from his own experieince) and will be like two weeks of off work time I am going to cancel my appt and keep Makenzie's. It appears I have had strep once a year for the last 8 years and twice a year in 06 and 08. I guess this insn't considered a lot. 4-5 times a year is a lot.

So hope we can start feeling better soon and go do something fun.

Baby Abigail is here

After a quick name change Sunday night, baby Abigail, our niece was born on Monday 03/09/09. Here is the only pic I have of her right now. Congrats to Jen & Mike.

I found an email I received awhile back and thought it was appropriate to post:
Before I was a Mom

I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a
 lullaby.

I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.

 I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom - I had never been puked on.

 Pooped on.

 Peed on.

I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.

 I slept all night.

 Before I was a Mom

I never held down a screaming child so doctors could  do tests.

 Or give shots.

I never looked into teary eyes and cried.

I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.

I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

 Before I was a Mom

I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put them down.

never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.

I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.

I never knew that I could love someone so much.

I never knew I would love being a Mom.

 Before I was  a Mom -

I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.

I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.

I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.

I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

 Before I was a Mom -

I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.

I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache,

the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.

I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.

Sick again

Just a quick update on us. We are sick once again. On Sunday Feb 22 after a long sleepless weekend with some out of town friends for Miami's Charter Day ball, Makenzie came down with a cough, fever and runny nose. She was miserable. James and I caught it later that week and went to the doc on Thurs and Friday. Appears to just be the flu and a cold. So here we are a week and half later still not feeling up to par.

We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of baby Madison who is scheduled to be induced on March 9th. The day before James' birthday. We have a busy month ahead of us.
February 14

Happy Valentines Day

We enjoyed an evening of homemade pasta and fondue.

Here is Makenzie during the day posing

What adorable 5 month pictures of Makenzie!  We enjoyed the ones of Jimmy too; now we want to see ones of you, Angie!  We missed you at Indy, but you would not have liked the rain and blustery weather.  Hopefully you will get to go to Norwalk--we'll keep our fingers crossed.
